These exceptional knives were made for the international exhibition "Hunting & Falcons" in Qatar, one of the largest exhibitions in the world dedicated to the world of falconry and hunting.
This duo of knives, made in partnership with the 1515 workshop, offers a series of representations around falconry and Islamic art.
The first knife features a bolster engraved with a Peregrine falcon and a Saker falcon, with an ornament inspired by Islamic art.
The second knife has a handle entirely engraved with a very elaborate scene. The arches of the courtyard of the Museum of Islamic Art are depicted, offering a perspective (to scale) on the towers of the capital city of Doha. The scene continues to incorporate several animals: the Peregrine falcon and the Saker falcon, also presented covered with a headdress, as well as a bustard, falcons' favorite prey. The whole is inlaid with gold, all decorated with fine motifs inspired by Islamic art.
These exceptional knives found a prestigious buyer.
Please note some remarkable details: gold inlay, integration of symbols of Islamic art, fine animal details and hoods, work of shadows, reminder of the hawk's headdress on the spacer, contrasts with the technique of engraving in hollow background...
